Odisha police in touch with Delhi counterparts in Odia woman rape case

Amid outrage over the alleged rape of a 34-year-old woman from Odisha in Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan Area some four days back, the Odisha police on Monday said it is in touch with its Delhi counterparts seeking early arrest of the perpetrators of the dastardly crime.

Amid outrage over the alleged rape of a 34-year-old woman from Odisha in Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan Area some four days back, the Odisha police on Monday said it is in touch with its Delhi counterparts seeking early arrest of the perpetrators of the dastardly crime.

The victim after being sexually assaulted was dumped in a deserted spot and was later found in a semi-conscious state by a passerby. “The incident regarding sexual assault of an Odia girl at Delhi is being followed up with seriousness and sensitivity. Odisha Police is in touch with the family members of the survivor and is also following up progress of investigation with Delhi Police.

Arrangement has been made to facilitate movement of the victim’s family members from Bhubaneswar to Delhi. All necessary steps are being taken”, the State police headquarters said here in a statement. Meanwhile ,the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken cognizance of a complaint lodged by Supreme Court lawyer Radhakant Tripathy in this regard.
